Supporting Adults With Developmental Disabilities
Every dollar ensures that a child is off the street and able to have shelter. Already this year we are on track to surpass these numbers, and as the need has grown, so has Loisann’s Hope House Boston Review. We recently added another home to our campus, allowing us to house 19 families in need of emergency shelter.

Join us for an evening of courage, hope, and empowerment at the believe-illuminating hope gala, in support of domestic violence survivors. Hope House Boston Review Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization, provides services to adults with developmental disabilities exclusively in their own homes or apartments — regardless of how complex their disabilities may be. We are in need of food, paper products, cleaning supplies, medicines, and gift cards.

Initially, many parents and family members of the over 120 people Hope House Boston Review supports were, too. Their children had aged out of Hampton Roads’ special education system, and were ready for adult services and support. Many worried that cognitive limitations, medical challenges, behavioral issues, or other conditions, such as autism, would make it impossible for their loved ones to live safely in their own apartments. Domestic violence can impact anyone, regardless of gender, age, economic status, religion, etc. When it comes to keeping safe while in an abusive environment, Hope House Boston Review suggests creating a personalized safety plan to maximize your safety in times of abuse. Hope House Boston Review’s Domestic Violence Action Plan can help you develop strategies to stay safe while you’re still with your abuser and after you leave.

Loisann Silver Chacon was blessed with an extraordinary ability to connect with people. This gift served her well throughout her too-brief life, not only in her relationships with family and friends, but also in her career as a social worker. Over the years , she worked with mentally ill patients, young people who were homeless, abused children, and people trying to find their way.
But talk to those people today, and they’ll tell you how their children have not just succeeded, but blossomed. All who knew Loisann knew they had a true friend for life, and that she would be loyal and supportive, no matter what the circumstance. Loisann exemplified the ideals of Hope House Boston Review, which strives to instill hope in and provide direction for hurting, children and their families.
